Whether it's the freedom to drive very long distances with an electric car or the flexibility to charge it as needed when you're taking a break. Or simply because you like having an alternative when charging at home is not an option. Whatever is important to you personally – in all three cases, a public charging infrastructure is crucial.
Charge from 5% up to 80% in just 30 minutes
For long-haul routes, the ability to charge extra quickly is important for a battery-powered vehicle. The Audi e-tron allows extremely short charging stops, because it has the max. charging power of 150 kW and can hold up to 80% of the battery state-of-charge (SOC). As a result, the Audi e-tron only needs 30 minutes on a high-power charging (HPC) column for a typical charge of 5% to 80%. If, on the other hand, you want to fill the battery to 100% in order to be able to exploit the maximum range, the sophisticated battery management system only takes another 20 minutes - an outstanding feature in the competitive environment.
e-tron charging power
Compared with the competitive environment, the charging performance of the Audi e-tron sets new standards. The 150 kW charging curve stands out for its high level of stability, based on intelligent battery management, which lowers the currents to protect the lithium-ion cells and ensure their service life. This is a big difference to other concepts, which usually only reach their full power for a short time (peak) and clearly start downgrading before the 70% threshold. The Audi e-tron still charges more than 100 kW at 80%. In everyday life, this constitutes fundamental utility: for around 100 kilometres, the customer ideally spends less than 10 minutes at the charging station.
Audi provides a Mode-3 cable for AC charging stations without a fixed charging cable. This supports the AC charging capacity of the vehicle with 11 kW³ as standard.
More than 70,000 public charging points: e-tron Charging Service¹
The e-tron Charging Service¹ offers you uniform access to one of the largest public charging networks in Europe. By the beginning of 2019, you will be able to charge at well over 70,000 public charging points in 16 European countries. In addition, new target countries and charging points are constantly being added. With e-Roaming, cross-border charging with a single contract is possible in currently 16 countries, whereas the network coverage is constantly expanding. Uniform and transparent tariffs per country make it easy and worry-free to switch to electric mobility. All public charging processes and invoices can be viewed easily and clearly via the myAudi portal and the myAudi app².

Fast charging on long routes: The IONITY network
To ensure that you can fully enjoy the long-distance capability of your Audi e-tron vehicle, Audi is committed to building up a powerful network of charging stations along the main European transport axes. IONITY is a company that sets up and operates an express charging network of highways and motorways in 25 European countries. The high power charging (HPC) network with charging power of up to 350 KW enables electric mobility over long distances. The charging stops are automatically scheduled using the e-tron route planner. 30 minutes are enough to charge the Audi e-tron's high-voltage battery for a long-distance range – the Audi e-tron uses a charging power of up to 150 kW for this.
